Why Drive When You Can…

en español

Did you know that making a slight change in the way you travel can make a big difference? You can save a lot of time, money and stress, and really improve air quality in Middle Tennessee by taking advantage of some great transit opportunities available in our area.

Bus
Nashville MTA’s bus system is a great way to get to and from work, school, and the store. Now you can plan your route and view maps online. When you board the bus, you can sit back, relax, and make a major improvement in our air quality. All it takes is a minor change in your routine.

For more information visit http://www.nashvillemta.org, or call MTA at (615) 862-5969.

Train
Nashville workers face some of the longest commutes in the nation. The Music City Star commuter rail offers an effective, leisurely way to get downtown for business or pleasure. The Music City Star currently runs from Lebanon, Martha, Mt. Juliet, Hermitage, Donelson, and Riverfront, and other routes will be added in the future.

For more information visit http://www.musiccitystar.org, or call RTA at (615) 862-8833.

Carpool
Nashville’s Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) offers a “Ride Match System” on their Web site that helps individuals find others with similar commute schedules. It’s a great way to save money and help protect the environment.

Vanpool
Vanpools consist of up to 15 people sharing a commute to work. Vanpooling allows riders to share gas costs and avoid wear-and-tear on their personal vehicles. Both RTA and the TMA Group provide vans with vanpool participants responsible only for a monthly fee to cover the lease, insurance, and cost of gas.

Trolley
Franklin residents have a fast, effective, and fun option for getting around town with the trolley. The trolleys operate on clean-burning diesel fuels, and are linked to satellite location systems for efficient, on-time routing to get you where you need to go, when you need to be there.

For more information visit http://www.tmagroup.org/trolley/index.php, or call the TMA Group at (615) 790-0604.

Walk/Bike
If you’re looking for a great way to stay in shape, try walking or riding your bike instead of driving. Many of Nashville’s city streets have bike lanes, and more and more people are pedaling themselves to and from work.
